Paul DiRienzo is owner and head instructor at the Metrowest Academy of Jiu Jitsu, where he teaches real life self-defense to students of all ages. Paul became a certified instructor in American Jiu Jitsu and earned the rank of Shodan, 1st degree Black Belt, in 2002. He went on to receive the rank of Nidan, 2nd degree Black Belt and currently holds the rank of Sandan, 3rd degree Black Belt.


His martial training spans a range of disciplines including Small Circle Jiu Jitsu, Western Boxing, Judo, Aikido and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Paul also has expertise in offensive/defensive knife and handgun through his training with industry leaders Hock Hocheim, Michael Janich, Craig Douglas, Randy King, and Raffi Derderian. He has advanced firearms training through courses at the Sig Sauer Academy, including several forms of Active Shooter training and FAST training for Active Shooter Scenarios. Paul is an NRA certified Instructor and participates in The Combat Focus Shooting program. DiRienzo contributed his expertise in exercise science and kinesiology in a recent book in the CFS Instructional series authored by Rob Pincus.


Paul is a former Master Trainer with Town Sports International and holds certifications in Personal Training (through NASM), Group Exercise (through the Aerobics & Fitness Association of America), Pre/Post Natal Fitness (AASI/ISMA) and Boxing Certification through ISCA. He is qualified in Nutritional Management (LMA) and Muscle Activations Techniques.


Paul is a graduate of Boston College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He is currently pursuing master level coursework in psychology.
